The exhibition "Visions in motion – Graffiti and echoes of Futurism", which will be held at the Fabbrica del Vapore in Milan starting from November 30th, is a unique comparison between Futurism and Graffitism, two artistic movements of the early and late 20th century. The exhibition, an absolute first in Italy, was organized by Navigare srl in collaboration with the Municipality of Milan and the Fabbrica del Vapore, and curated by the American art critic Carlo McCormick together with Edoardo Falcioni, Maria Gregotti and Elena Pontiggia. Divided into six sections (Dynamism, Color, City, Rebellion, Eco, and a documentary), the exhibition illustrates the parallels between the Italian Futurism of the early twentieth century and the Graffitism born in the 70s in New York. Both movements express a vision of the future as a flow of energy and an eternal present, where art becomes a vehicle to represent movement, speed and the dynamism of its times. More than 150 works by artists such as Balla, Depero, Boccioni, and American artists such as Basquiat, Haring, and Lady Pink will be exhibited, creating a dialogue that transcends style to question the role and meaning of art in society. These artists both challenged traditional notions of art and public space, with Futurism aiming to demolish the past for a new modern aesthetic, and Graffitism taking art out of the galleries, making it part of everyday life in the streets and marginal places. The choice of the Fabbrica del Vapore as an exhibition venue reflects the philosophy of the movement and urban dynamism, underlining the link between these revolutionary artistic movements and the contemporary urban environment.
